Dr. David Nelson has been a practicing Ophthalmologist in Rock Hill since 2001, and established the Carolina EyeCare Center, LLC in 2005. Dr. Nelson is Board Certified (Ophthalmology) and licensed to practice medicine in North and South Carolina.

Dr. Nelson graduated from California State University, Northridge in Southern California with a bachelor's degree in Chemistry. He then attended the Chicago Medical School in Illinois, graduating with a Medical Doctorate degree (MD). Dr.Nelson served as President of the Christian Medical Society while in medical school.

After completing an Internship with the University of Illinois, Chicago, at St Francis Hospital he completed three years of specialty training (Residency) in Ophthalmology with the Medical College of Georgia. There he trained with David Hull, MD (Duke - Cataract & Cornea), Dennis Marcus, MD (Harvard - Retina), Steven Brooks, MD (Johns Hopkins - Pediatrics), Malcolm Luxemberg, MD (Bascolm Palmer, Miami - Oculo-Plastics), Anastocios Costarides, MD (Will's Eye, Philadelphia - Glaucoma) and others. Dr. Nelson received the honor of Chief of the Ophthalmology Residents Staff and was added on to the Faculty in 2003.

Since 2001 Dr. Nelson has focused on the advancements in Cataract, Laser and Lens Implant Surgery and has become a leader in the Carolinas with the many thousands of successful cataract, laser, and lens implant procedures he has performed. Since 2003 Dr Nelson has ranked among the Top Ophthalmic Surgeons in the Greater Charlotte area for the number of Cataract & Multifocal Implant Surgeries performed and attracts patients from all over the Carolinas.

Dr. Nelson's work has been published in Ophthalmology journals and he has lectured at National conferences. Dr Nelson holds memberships in the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Medical Association, and the American Academy of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

Dr. Nelson and his wife of 20 years live in Fort Mill with their three children.

Dr Paul Burt has been a practicing in York Co. since 2003 and joined the Carolina Eyecare Center in 2008. Dr Burt graduated Cum Laude from Indiana University in 1997 and then earned his Doctorate in Optometry also from the University of Indiana, graduating with honors.

Dr Burt completed additional training at Indiana University Eyecare Clinics, Veterans Administration Hospital in Indianapolis, and with the Indiana Eye Surgeons Clinic also in Indianapolis.

Dr Burt evaluates and treats most eye diseases including Glaucoma, Age Related Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Eye Disease and Dry Eye to name just a few.

Dr Burt also specializes in Contact Lens fittings and Eyeglass examinations for all ages.

Dr Burt and his wife live in Tega Cay with their four children.
